COMMON QUESTIONS

HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

For private patients you are welcome to call, email or message via this website to make an initial appointment. Due to client commitments we will often not answer our phone, so text or email is preferred and allows us to get back to you with accurate information.

For clients looking to access a Medicare rebate, please see your GP and request a referral to us. A copy of your Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) will be required before your first appointment. You are able to use MHCP made out to a different psychologist or service.

Following contact with the Psychologist you will receive an email with information regarding your appointment and a link to a form to be completed prior to coming to your appointment.

WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE?

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to allow you time to complete any additional information before the session starts.
Bring your Medicare Card and Mental Health Care Plan if required.

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

Initial sessions can be up to 60 minutes long. This first session involves collecting background information and psychometric data while also planning for the following treatment.

For referrals for children and minors, this session often includes Parents and Caregivers.

Subsequent sessions are 50 minutes long.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Services are charged in accordance with the Australian Psychology Society recommended fee schedule, however a significantly lower rate is charged at YoungMinds.

Counselling sessions are $180. A rebate of $93.35 is available through Medicare if you have seen your GP first and have a Mental Health Care Plan.

Rebates from Private Health insurers may also be available as per your level of cover.

Assessments vary in price. Please contact us to discuss fees for these services.

Charges for reports and letters are additional and are negotiated prior to their completion.

DO YOU HAVE HICAPS?

Yes. Medicare rebates are able to be refunded immediately. For Private Health Insurance a copy of your paid invoice will be made available for you to claim after the appointment.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment you will be charged 50% of your session fee.
